The small museum on the ground floor of the 32 metre tall Großbeeren commemorative tower (built in 1913 to mark the 100th anniversary of the battle) is dedicated in memory of the Battle of Großbeeren on 23 August 1813, during which the Prussian troops under General von Bülow and their allies defeated the Napoleonic troops outside the gates of Berlin, thereby preventing the Prussian capital from being occupied again.

From the viewing platform of the commemorative tower, you can see for a good 30 kilometres across the land in good weather. Group tours are available by prior arrangement.

The commemorative tower is open from May to September every two weeks on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There are special opening hours for festivals, for example the “Siegesfest” victory festival, on Open Monuments Day and on International Museums Day
