Military history from different eras comes to life in the book and bunker town of Wünsdorf. While the Garrison Museum deals with German military history from the Kaiserreich to the end of the Second World War, the Museum “Roter Stern” (“Red Star”) is dedicated to the period of Soviet occupation from 1945 to 1994. Housed in a converted former horse stable, the exhibition is divided into two main areas. The first section presents all the key topics and events relating to the presence of the Soviet Army in the GDR. The second area seeks to provide an insight into everyday life in the so-called “Forbidden City” with the exhibition of military artefacts and everyday objects.
