At the asparagus museum in Beelitz, you can find out everything you every wanted to know about asparagus. The “Beelitzer Spargel” e. V. association set up the only asparagus museum in North Germany. In the historic town centre of Beelitz, in the former stable building on Mauerstrasse, right behind the courtyard of the Alte Posthalterei posting station, you can delve deep into the history of this fine vegetable from Nieplitz. The collection, which is constantly being expanded, honours asparagus as a source and object of culinary pleasure and commerce. Learn about the botany of the plant, the technology and history of Beelitz asparagus cultivation, about aspects of general culture and history and of medicine relating to asparagus, as well as the lives of the people associated with asparagus. They demonstrate the commercial importance of asparagus for the region and present the tourism project “Beelitzer Spargelstraße” (Beelitz Asparagus Road).

The asparagus museum in Beelitz is open Tue to Sun from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. during peek season. The museum can also be visited on request throughout the rest of the year. Reservations at telephone +49 33204-39154 or +49 33204-39155.
