The observation tower on Katzenberg near Beelitz is a joint project by the town of Beelitz and Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park. From here there is a wonderful view of the Nieplitz lowlands with their small alder fens and blooming wetlands, and the course of the River Nieplitz with its marshy cut-off meander. The Nieplitz wetlands flood in spring, providing food, nesting sites and resting places for white storks, lapwings and black kites.

How to get there: by bicycle or train from Beelitzer Stadtbahnhof train station along cycle path F5 across the River Nieplitz to Katzenberg; by car south of Beelitz via the B2 from Treuenbrietzener Strasse to the commercial district, take the first exit on the right, turn left after 200 metres onto Grenzelweg and you will come to the observation tower in 1.8 kilometres.
