Dedicated to sustainability – the Edeka Center Specht is a family-run business that’s more than just a supermarket. From the very beginning this Edeka Center was constructed in a resource-friendly way, and it was built almost entirely self-sufficiently. The market is entirely heated using the exhaust heat from the cooling facilities, and uses green energy from a regional provider using renewable sources. There is an electric charging station for e-bikes and electric cars, as well as a market glasshouse, taking the first step towards being a self-sustaining supermarket. The primary focus is on regional and season produce to support the local Brandenburg and Berlin region and to offer low-emissions food from the surrounding area. It’s possible to do your shopping easily, sustainably and in an environmentally friendly way here.
You have the chance to take charge of your own sustainability and shop responsibly in order not to produce any more plastic waste, especially when it’s easily avoidable. In the fruit and vegetable section you can find information all about the topic of sustainability, plus of course reusable nets and other sustainable packaging for transportation.
