Turn your back on the metropolis of Berlin and just a few kilometres further on you can enjoy the vastness of the woods and immerse yourself in the peace and quiet of picturesque villages and small towns. Following in Fontane's footsteps, the tour takes you to Ribbeck and through the Havelländisches Luch (former marshland) to Westhavelland Nature Park. From Rathenow it is only a few kilometres to the Altmark Circuit and Elbe Cycle Path.

Start: Berlin Spandau / Finish: Rathenow

How to get there: take the RE1 (Brandenburg)  from Berlin central station (Hauptbahnhof) to Berlin Charlottenburg. From here take the RE4 (Rathenow) to Spandau (about 20 minutes).

Return journey: From Rathenow, take the RE4 (Jüterbog) to Berlin central station (Hauptbahnhof) (approximately 1 hour). From Rathenow the Havelland Cycle Path continues for about 18 kilometres to Neu-Schollene. Unfortunately, it is not possible to continue by bike on public transport, so from here you have to follow the same route back to Rathenow.

Trail conditions/surface: The trail is mainly asphalted. It runs for about 2.5 kilometres from Nauen/Am Weinberg to Nauen and for about 1 kilometre from Rathenow/West to Steckelsdorf on a cycle path alongside the road.
