One of the most remarkable churches and architectural monuments in Havelland are to be found in Spaatz, a small, one street village by a village green in west Havelland. The original Early Gothic church was built toward the end of the 12th century and is the oldest cobblestone church in the area. It was built of split cobblestones with their corners hewn at sharp angles. The church consists of a tower and nave with a shallow, recessed choir and semi-circular apse with barrel vaulting. The wooden altar dating from 1647 stands before the apse. The altar is decorated with three oil paintings on a wooden retable, which was restored in 1957. An organ was installed on the west gallery by organ builder Lütkemüller from Wittstock in 1878. The former copper bells had to be handed over during the First World War and were later replaced with cast steel bells. The church tower was renovated in 2000.
