While the church in the neighbouring village of Ribbeck attracts lots of visitors, the church in Selbelang has remained somewhat in the shadows, even though it also has a few sights to offer. The brick building was built in the late 15th century; the tower with the Baroque cupola was only built in 1749. In 1862, the church was fully renovated and the simple ceiling was replaced with cross-ribbed vaults.

One particularly interesting interior feature is the Baroque pulpit altar dating from 1717. Carved figures from its predecessor were incorporated into it when it was being made. This shows that, during the Reformation, Mark Brandenburg was not necessarily subjected to an iconoclasm where traces of Catholic or Papist holy figures were destroyed. The sculptures were reinterpreted as evangelists when the were re-purposed in the new altar. In order to give Luther the Reformer a place too, his image is applied to the abat-voix of the pulpit - framed by two Catholic angels. The organ by Wagner’s student Friedrich Marx dates from 1804.

Current information on the key is available on the noticeboard at the entrance of the church.
