A place of encounter with nature since 1825: The Krugpark has a long history as a public park for the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. The origins of the park date back to the efforts by the Master Chimney Sweep and former Town Councillor Johann Gottfried Bröse to create a recreational space for his citizens outside the gates of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. The park developed into a natural deciduous mixed woodland unparalleled in the surroundings of the town. A walk here is recommended at any time of the year.

Today, the Krugpark is managed by the dedicated team of the Krugpark Nature Conservation Centre. A host of events held in the Krugpark and in the surrounding area make the Nature Conservation Centre a worthwhile destination for tourists and anyone looking for peace and tranquillity.

The Krugpark can be visited at any time free or charge. About three kilometres of circular trails with information panels and quiet corners wind their way around the park. There are also exhibitions on “Plants and animals in Brandenburg" and "Nature to touch", a “Touch Path” for people with disabilities, animation boards and fitness equipment, compostable toilets, playground and Poets’ Path: 15 panels with quotes from well-known and unknown poets along a 1.7-kilometre section, photo frames giving a view of nature and a nature trail that can be used at any time without pre-booking.
