The promenade was built between the Steintor Tower and the Saint Annen Bridge along the town canal in 1843. Planting along the town wall started at the beginning of the 20th century, before the redesign was undertaken in 2006. Today, both residents and visitors enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade.
