Route description: The starting point of this walk is the most interesting place in Ferch: in addition to the administrative building of the municipality of Schwielowsee there is the more than 300-year-old Schifferkirche (boatmen's church), which is well worth seeing, as well as the unique Havelland painters' colony museum. These can both be visited before or after the hike. The hike first leads along Beelitzer Strasse. Behind a car park on the right-hand side, the road then goes left, but you turn right in front of the bank into a small forest path. Walking down the valley, you soon reach a wide vehicle track which turns left and takes you to the old village centre. (This settlement site was already abandoned before the 30 Years War). Today, the new buildings on the left-hand side of the road are mainly weekend holiday homes. Continue to follow the road until a path bear to the right and winds its way uphill into the forest. Following this path, you will soon reach the R1 cycle path. Turn right onto this asphalted cycle path.

After about one kilometre you will see the small village of Kemnitzer Heide on the left. Stay on the cycle path until just before crossing the Ferch – Glindow road: here there is a wide dirt road that branches off to the left. This straight forest path takes you to the district of Mittelbusch (at the end on the R1 cycle path once again). In Mittelbusch, a visit to the Bonsai Garden is an ideal way to take a break. From the Bonsai Garden, go to the opposite side of the road and after a few steps in the direction of Werder/Petzow you will find the beginning of a solid shore path. This then leads you past the Haus am See and over the Wiesensteg boardwalk back to the starting point of the hike.

Possible combinations:

  • Hike through the Fercher Berge hills
  • Fontane Trail F6
  • Around Lake Schwielowsee
