The trail begins at the centre of Ketzin/Havel, at the tourist information centre in Rathausstrasse and starts off through the narrow streets and alleyways of the old town. For centuries, life on and with the water has shaped the people of this Havel town. Along the lovingly laid out Havel promenade you can still feel the spirit of fishing tradition.

The playground, located directly on the circular trail, is extremely popular with both young and old. In the immediate vicinity, the Ketzin/Havel lido provides the ideal opportunity for a cool dip in the River Havel during the summer months. The path follows the dyke along the Havel. From up here you have a wonderful view of the unspoilt shore vegetation until you reach Paretz. This well-planned and yet wonderfully picturesque town still radiates a sense of royal withdrawal – which is why the Prussian royal family loved to spend the summer months here. The unelaborate appearance of the palace exterior is deceptive. The estate is a jewel of classicistic interior design and definitely worth a visit. The same applies to Paretz village church, which is located directly opposite the palace and is open to the public. In the palace coach house there is a remarkable exhibition of historical carriages. You can explore more sights on a leisurely stroll through the village – including Gothic House, the flour scales and the fire engine house.
