The City Museum of Brandenburg on the Havel consists of three exhibitions sites, all situated in the historic center: the Frey-Haus, a Baroque residence, the Steintorturm, a tower as part of the medieval town fortification and the Gotisches Haus, a listed building with roots back in the 15th century.

At the Frey-Haus, special and gallery exhibitions on different periods of the town’s millenial history are presented. The collection of historic toys produced only a few meters away from the museum is particularly impressive. The exhibitions are accompanied by events and the museum’s educational offerings.

Only a few steps away, the basement of the Gotisches Haus, offers an exhibition on alchemy and every day's life in the early modern period. Archaeologic finds shed light on a chemist's workshop and Baroque finds on a wealthy household. The horse's skeleton dumped in a 13th century pit is the oldest find on display.

The medieval Tower itself is a fantastic witness to the history of the town and is highly recommended. As the only accessible town gate tower in Brandenburg an der Havel, it houses an exhibition on shipping and fishing on the River Havel in Brandenburg. The viewing platform offers a magnificent view over the roofs and the river of the town.
