Deetz local history museum focuses in particular on presenting the activities of the village’s many associations. Photographs show the development from “Traktor” Deetz to FC Deetz. Little dance skirts bear witness to the carnival club, famous far beyond Deetz. Leather buckets document the origins of the fire service, among other things. The founding flag of the singing club dating from 1888 is on display and a log book reports on the many facets of club life. A complete cobbler’s workshop was donated to the local history museum. The cobbler’s workbench complete with nails, glue and machines are on display.

The Heimatverein (local association) is proud of its extensive historic photo archive with photographs of the seven former brickworks in Deetz, the windmills and village life. Alternating exhibitions are shown on various local history topics. Every 14 days, an “Erzählabende” (storytelling evening) takes place at Heimatsverein Deetz, to which everyone is welcome.

The Heimatverein has secured the remains of the seven brickworks that used to be in Deetz and exhibited them at the museum. Work at the brickwork was captured in photographs. Visitors can find horse-drawn trams, steam locomotives and diesel engines, for example.

Opening hours: by arrangement.
