The Geltow handweavery is the largest in Germany and, founded in the year 1927, is undoubtedly one of the oldest handweaving mills. It is perhaps even the oldest family-run Master craft business in this sector. Today the weavers still work on 200 to 300-year old looms. Nimble hands warp and weft chains, moving shuttles and pedals, creating beautiful natural woven fabric from the individual natural fibre threads. Fabrics are woven according to traditional patterns and are worked into towels, table linen and home accessories. Garments for discerning customers are also made to measure. The new collection will be presented at two fashion shows in May, which are very popular. All the attractive items, as well as HB ceramics and Lauchhammer art cast products can also be bought from the small shop adjoining the weaving workshop. Visitors can learn interesting facts about this old craft from experts in a museum.
