Caputh Palace and Estate are situated in a picturesque location on the banks of the River Havel, just a few kilometres from Potsdam. This country manor house which once belonged to Dorothea, second wife of the Great Elector, features early Baroque ceiling designs with paintings and stucco work. The works of art exhibited here today include lacquer furniture, porcelain, faience, sculptures and more than 100 paintings, providing an impression of the development of courtly art and princely home decor around 1700. One feature particularly worth seeing is the summer dining hall with approximately 7,500 Dutch faience tiles in the basement of the house. In addition to its use as a museum, Caputh Palace is also a venue for numerous cultural events, concerts and exhibitions. Civil weddings can also be held here. There is also a small landscape garden which was created at the beginning of the 19th century according to a plan by Peter Joseph Lenné.
