Stopover in Rogäsen

Frederick the Great once had to make a stopover in Rogäsen on his return from a military review of the Magdeburg garrison because a wheel on the carriage had broken. The King stayed at the von Werder estate until the repairs were completed.

Drainage of Fiener Bruch

Following the involuntary stop in Rogäsen, the then District Administrator Hans Dietrich von Werder was commissioned by the King to drain the Fiener Bruch, a lowland area. The wooden dam leading through the quarry was also paved. This successful redesign prompted the King to appoint von Werder to the position of Privy Councillor of Finance in Berlin.

In 1780 the King supported the construction of a new manor house in Rogäsen to enable him to stay overnight when travelling. The von Werder manor house still stands today as a striking building, located on an elevation in the village. It is in private use, but the König family permit visits to the manor house on request. In addition, Rogäsen Manor is regularly the venue for the Havelland Music Festival.
