The newly designed playground at the Großkoschen lakeside beach is an exciting place where children up to the age of 12 can discover the mining history of Lusatia through play. Under the motto ‘Miner’, the facility incorporates key elements of former open-cast lignite mining in Lusatia. The highlight is a large bucket wheel excavator that can be climbed on. The offer is complemented by a conveyor ramp with a digging station, a wobbly coal slab bridge and a slide that recreates the removal of the coal. The design of the site is also reminiscent of open-cast mining: mounds in brown symbolise spoil heaps. The playground brings the structural change in the region to life in a child-friendly way.
