From Vetschau im Spreewald, this stage takes you to Gräbendorfer See, a lake which emerged as a result of the flooding of a former surface mine. Then you continues through small villages until you get to Cottbus.

How to get there: Take the RE2 (Cottbus) from Berlin central station to Vetschau (about 1 hour).

Return journey: From Cottbus, take the RE2 (Wittenberge) regional express train to Berlin central station (about 1.5 hours).

Route: Vetschau, Lobendorf, Tornitz, Wüstenhain, Casel, Illmersdorf, Koschendorf, Kolkwitz,

Points of interest/background information:
  • Vetschau: Wendish-German twin church
  • Lake Gräbendorfer See and Gräbendorfer garden environmental and meeting centre
  • Cottbus: Airfield museum, historic town centre, Wendish museum, art museum, diesel power station
