This tour takes you to the Peitz pond landscapes, the heath landscape and the Schlaubetal Nature Park, one of Germany’s most beautiful brook valleys. The day tour begins in the fishing and fortress town of Peitz with its medieval fortress tower and the museum of ironworks and fisheries.

It finishes in Beeskow, which is situated directly on the Spree and surrounded by woods and lakes. The town wall with its seven towers has been almost completely restored and protects the historic town centre of Beeskow with its St. Marien hall church. The impressive castle is also worth a visit.

How to get there: From Berlin Zoologischer Garten, take the RE2 to Cottbus. From here it is about 15 kilometres by bicycle to Peitz (about 2 hours).

Return journey: Take the RB36 regional train from Beeskow to Königs Wusterhausen. From here, take the RE2 (Wismar) to Berlin central station (about 2 hours).

Route: Peitz, Tauer, Pinnow, Reicherskreuz, Chossewitz, Oelsen, Friedland, Leißnitz, Beeskow
