The cycle tour leads through the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape Biosphere Reserve, where white-tailed eagles fly their circles. Since the 1980s, the population of these impressive birds of prey has recovered in Germany. Today the white-tailed eagle once again has its breeding grounds in the heath and pond landscape south of the Lusatian Lakeland. On the circular route you cycle through forests, past meadows, fields and ponds. White-tailed eagles, as well as cranes, herons and other water birds can be observed from the path or from specially created spots at the ponds. Along the way, you will learn about the life and territory of the white-tailed eagle at seven informative stations. You can't miss these stations, above each of which a shiny silvery white-tailed eagle turns in the wind. Small detours along the way are worthwhile at vantage points, observation platforms, natural and cultural monuments, biosphere innkeepers, farm shops, artisans and local museums.
