Half way between Dresden and Berlin, Europe´s largest artificial lakeland, with over 20 lakes, has emerged where previously there were opencast mines. The Lakeland Route passes through this new Lusatian Lake District. On the way, you can witness the different stages of the flooding process, from developing lakes with rough banks to fully-flooded lakes. In many places, there are already beaches and water sports such as surfing or sailing.
