Visitors to the 5.60 metres tall Loben Tower are greeted by the song of water frogs. From the top of the tower they can enjoy views of the unparalleled nature reserve “Loben”. The moor landscape is among the last largely intact landscapes of its kind in the south of Brandenburg. Cotton grass flourishes here and the area is characterised by mosses, various types of grass and birch trees, as well as reeds and dead pine trunks among little water areas that are glistening in the sun. There is so much to see from the viewing platform, especially if you have brought along a pair of binoculars. In spring you can see the narrow blades of the cotton grass, listen to tree and moor frogs and watch cranes, bitterns and snipes. Mute swans, marsh harriers, little fireflies and hobbies can be spotted in summer. In autumn, you can admire how the moor grass turns orange and see the bird migration, and in winter there is the peat moss, and the sea eagle with its huge wings will give you an impressive idea of the diversity of species in the “Loben” nature reserve.
