Bärwalder See is Saxony’s biggest lake, with a water surface of 13 square kilometres. The former mining cavity is part of a post-mining landscape. There are various bathing areas and recreational facilities around the lake. Convenient access ways and parking (for a fee) are available. Fishing from boats is permitted, as well as the use of multi-hook lines. Particular rules apply, these are detailed in the fishing atlas for Saxony.
