In the 1950s, Jürgen von Woyski, like his writing artist colleague Brigitte Reimann, followed the call to work as an artist for the newly emerging city of Hoyerswerda. The city grew rapidly and offered Jürgen von Woyski a large playing field, who over the years left his creative mark on the city. At the sculpture symposiums initiated by him, the creation of such works by international artists could be witnessed at first hand every year. The Jürgen-von-Woyski-Park is a small recreation area in the old town of Hoyerswerda near the Kreuzkirche. It offers its visitors the opportunity to relax and invites them to linger. Especially on hot summer days, its trees provide a comforting shade.
