The horse shoe-shaped push moraine “Faltenbogen” in the Niederlausitz region was formed some 340,000 years ago in the Elster Ice Age, due to a geological phenomenon. In the mid-19th century, the region was characterised by lignite mining, glass and brick making.

Its history makes the region an unparalleled place to explore. Visitors can experience the different phases of the area by bike or on foot. Since 2011, the German-Polish Geopark / Łuk Mużakowa has been under the patronage of the UNESCO.

Activities at the park include themed bicycle tours, guided tours and a ride through the push moraine landscape on the Muskau forest train.
