During a guided tour through the more than 725-year-old historical centre of Senftenberg you will get to know the most interesting buildings and their history on foot. Senftenberg is currently undergoing a transformation from a former mining town into a maritime town with its own town harbour.

The tour starts at the town hall of Senftenberg. Highlights include the “golden” painting of the town, the new town hall, the market with the postal milestone column, Kirchplatz with the German and Wendish churches, Töpferstrasse and Kreuzstrasse, the salt market as well as Senftenberg castle and fortress. The castle and fortress represented the most important starting point for the development of the town. Around 1860 “black gold” in the form of lignite was found here. Over the next 100 years, lignite mining and processing shaped the town and the region. The tour ends at the fortress and castle of Senftenberg.

Meeting point: Senftenberg Town Hall
Duration: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m - 2 hours

Please note the registration deadline of 3 days before the guided tour of the historic town centre.

Tip: The culinary town walk through Senftenberg not only takes you to the town’s most beautiful sights and spots but also spoils your palate along the way with a variety of tasting samples. During the tour you stop at selected Senftenberg restaurants, cafés and delicatessens. At four tour stops special tasting samples are served, including regional specialities such as fish from Lake Senftenberger See, homemade cake, Senftenberg egg liqueur, Großräschen wine and chocolate from Hornow.

Duration: 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. - 2.5 hours

The guided tours can be booked individually for groups on request. The classic guided tour for 10 or more participants and the culinary guided tour can be booked for 4 to 15 people.
