The classic guided tour of the old town of Hoyerswerda starts at the tourist information office in the Kulturfabrik at the Bürgerzentum. On the way, the historic marketplace with the Sorbenbrunnen and the Postmeilensäule will be visited and you will learn interesting facts about the importance of Hoyerswerda for medieval Lusatia. The oldest street in the city, popularly known as "Handwerkergasse", is Lange Straße. Participants will see lovingly restored craftsmen's cottages from the 18th century, which are rarely found in this form in Germany. The tour continues on foot past St. John's Church, along Kleine Bleiche to Hoyerswerda Castle. The original "old moated castle" now houses the city museum and next door is the Hoyerswerda Zoo. Public tours are available from January 2023 once a quarter with a duration of about 2 hours. For groups such as class reunions, family or company celebrations, there is the possibility to request additional dates.
