The European or Eurasian beaver is Europe’s biggest rodent. It can reach a length of 80 to 102 centimetres (head and body) and its tail is up to 35 centimetres long. Fully grown European beavers weigh between 23 and 30 kilogrammes. Beavers were considered extinct in Germany for more than 150 years. Now they are gradually returning to their original habitats.

At the start of the tour you will learn some general facts about the beavers of the Niederlausitz region.

Then we drive to our starting point in a carefully selected river area or nature reserve in the Niederlausitz region. Here we are going to walk along riverside paths. Walking along the paths, you will be introduced to the local fauna of the Niederlausitz region based on tracks and possible sightings. If you are very lucky, you may even see traces left by beavers. (Teeth marks or beaver dens)

Dates: by arrangement

Duration of the tour: about four hours
