The 1,300-hectare Lake Senftenberger See is the “mother lake” of the Lusatian Lake District and is located at the very heart of the navigable network of this newly developed region. Overall, there are several bathing areas with a total length of seven kilometres dotted around the lake.

The 600-metre long bathing area in Großkoschen with its shallow sloping sandy bathing area is ideal for families with children. There is a large pay car park, a playground, various snack bars and plenty of bathroom facilities (including an accessible toilet) on site. In the high season, there is also a permanent team of lifeguards on site. There are separate naturist and non-naturist bathing areas in Großkoschen.

The Santa Barbara passenger boat also departs here for its round trips around Lake Senftenberger See. The adjoining Amphitheatre also holds various events from May to September.
