The life and traditions of the Sorbian population in the bilingual region of Lusatia are represented by traditional costumes as well as domestic and folkloristic objects. The natural history exhibition provides information about the fauna and flora of the region, and the outdoor installation built next to the castle gives an insight into the rural way of life of the local farmers. The industrial development of southern Lower Lusatia is illustrated above all using the examples of the textile, glass and lignite industries.

Furthermore, a broad section is dedicated to the life and work of the writer Erwin Strittmatter. Particularly noteworthy is the art collection on works by and about Strittmatter.
