The lake is around 16 kilometres to the west of Guben, surrounded by pines and deciduous forests, in the Schlaubetal Nature Park. It is easily reached by the federal highway B 320 or by bicycle using well developed cycle paths. The lake covers 54 hectares and is up to eleven metres deep. Little bathing areas, a restaurant near the lake and a boat rental offer good opportunities to relax. There are 12 panels providing information about local birds along a hiking trail around the lake. Visitors of all ages can learn abut the world of birds here through a quiz.
