There is plenty of culture to experience at the theatre neue Bühne Senftenberg. With around 16 productions and over 300 performances per season, the theatre's own ensemble provides a comprehensive range of comedies, classics, modern drama and musicals. Special event formats for young children and families as well as readings, cabaret and concerts by guests also take place regularly.

The new stage has been around for more than 75 years. Founded one year after the Second World War as the "Theatre of the Miners", the house soon developed into a very popular three-part theatre in the country. Today, the special-purpose association "NEUE BÜHNE - Niederlausitzer Theaterstädtebund" consisting of the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz and the city of Senftenberg, is a theatre for everyone. Over the decades, the Neue Bühne Senftenberg has become an artistic focal point of the region.

Many renowned actors and directors, who later played in Berlin theatres, television and film, as well as premieres of important authors, established the fame of the small stage. Since the 2022/2023 season, Theater neue Bühne has been led by the Artistic Direction Team with artistic director Daniel Ris, head dramaturge Karoline Felsmann and in-house director Elina Finkel.
