The exhibitions are scientifically guided and based on the unique natural history collections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The permanent exhibition on the theme of collecting, preservation and research provides information on the collections established in 1866 by Baron Hermann von Maltzan. The museum garden surrounding the idyllic Lake Herrensee is an inviting place for visitors to take a walk. It attracts young visitors with his adventure playground or the waterplayground. Here children become pirates on the high seas.

The Müritzeum is a family-friendly establishment and largely accessible.
