The Müritzeum is a multimedia outdoor experience centre. The holiday region around Lake Müritz is fascinating, entertaining, informative, simple and comprehensible. It is an ideal area for both the young and old to visit. The Müritzeum is regarded as a showcase for Müritz National Park and allows visitors to gain an insight into the habitats in the forest, water and air. A highlight is the aquarium landscape with its numerous display tanks and the golden pike. The exhibitions are scientifically guided and based on the unique natural history collections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The permanent exhibition on the theme of collecting, preservation and research provides information on the collections established in 1866 by Baron Hermann von Maltzan. The museum garden surrounding the idyllic Lake Herrensee is an inviting place for visitors to take a walk. It attracts young visitors with his adventure playground. Here children become pirates on the high seas. The Müritzeum is a family-friendly establishment and largely accessible.
