The ‘one-room schoolhouse’ was in use for 63 years. It closed in 1972. Today, visitors can get a good impression of what school life was like here. Old teaching materials – blackboards, schoolbooks, slide rules and more – are on display. Numerous photos provide insights into what school life was like here at that time.

What the last village schoolteacher, Helmuth Österitz, initiated is being continued and brought to life by the Schwarzenburg Local History Association: the association looks after the school museum, offers guided tours and organises events.

Visits are only possible as part of a guided tour, by appointment.

Primary school classes can experience a day of ‘school as it was 100 years ago’.

And couples can say ‘I do’ here, as the school museum is a branch of the Heideblick registry office.
