The Christuskirche (“Church of Christ”) is the church of the independent Evangelical Lutheran parish. It is a red neo-Gothic brick structure with a tower, somewhat hidden and squeezed in between two residential buildings. Designed by Georg Grabkowsky, the church was consecrated in 1903. The building was financed by Empress Auguste Victoria – who was affectionately known as “Kirchenguste”. The vaulted interior with an almost square floor plan still has the original furnishings dating back to the time of its construction, including a crucifix carved by the sculptor Zechmair from Berchtesgaden and the pneumatically controlled organ with nine stops built by Alexander Schuke from Potsdam. It is one of the oldest examples of a Schuke organ and is the gem of the Christuskirche.
