After this it changed hands several times until the village was purchased by the Potsdam authorities in 1662.

In 1732 Frederick William I had a square church built in the half-timbered style with a steep tent roof and ridge turret.

In 1812 the wooden tower was erected in the old style, while at the same time the south and west walls underwent complete renewal.

A lightning strike on June 28, 1888 damaged the church so badly that the parish church council applied for a new building.

So Drewitz church is preserved as a rare example of a central-plan building in Prussia dating back to the first half of the 18th century.
