Located in the formerly independent parish of Klein-Glienicke, this chapel was built in the neo-Gothic style according to plans by Reinhold Persius in 1880/81. From 1961 to 1989 it was located in the so-called restricted zone. After a successful escape by construction workers who were supposed to be repairing the church in the 1980s, the building was not refurbished and fell into rapid decay. Thanks to the friends’ association Bauverein Klein-Glienicker Kapelle e.V., founded in 1990, the church was saved and reconsecrated after 120 years.

Since 1999, this gem of neo-Gothic architecture has been authentically restored on the inside and outside. The new Schuke organ, a concert instrument with 20 stops, was donated entirely by a Berlin couple. The fact that over 70% of the total construction costs of 2.5 million deutschmarks was raised from private donations is also an impressive reflection of community spirit. The chapel has become a special centre for the Babelsberg Protestant parish and enjoys great popularity as a venue for concerts (every first Sunday of the month at 4 p.m.), church weddings and baptismal services. Services are held here by clergymen of various denominations (every third Sunday of the month at 4 p.m.) under the motto “Overcoming Borders”.
