The wooden building of the Martin Luther Chapel is perched modestly on the edge of the garden city colony “Am Brunnen”, which was built at the end of the 1930s according to the ideas of land reformer Adolf Damaschke. A rectangular hall structure with a hipped roof and a small ridge turret for the bell, the small church previously served as a mining chapel for the Brefeld shaft in Tarthun (near Staßfurt/Harz) and was moved here in 1934.

The liturgical fittings were made from wood in 1962 according to designs by Winfried Wendland (1903-1998). Extended in 1977/80 to add utility rooms, the building serves a variety of purposes for its congregation.
