The Friendship Island in the heart of Potsdam is surrounded by a picturesque water landscape formed by two branches of the Havel River. It became famous after the gardener Karl-Foerster had laid out small gardens for teaching and presenting with more than 1,000 different perennials and over 250 varieties of irises in the water garden in 1937. Enjoy the garden, the nature as well as numerous sculptures and spend your family day in the café and at the large playground. The Freundschaftsinsel is a small paradise among Potsdam´s gardens.
