The Sicilian Garden in Sanssouci Park makes you dream of Italy. The garden artwork in the style of historicism captivates with its symmetry and a star-shaped flower bed as well as two pergolas. The subtropical plants include dwarf palms, New Zealand flax, worm ferns, pampas grass, funcias, yuccas and other potted plants. They are sunk deep into the ground, according to royal tradition, to simulate natural growth. The four-pass water basin laid out in the central axis and the colossal copies of the ancient Medici and Borghese vases are expressions of the longing for Italy.
