The neoclassical, listed Schinkelhalle is one of the oldest buildings on the Schiffbauergasse site: having undergone extensive renovation from 2009 onwards it is now a multi-purpose venue for major events of all kinds. The Schinkelhalle bears the name of the famous master builder Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Originally built in 1822/23 as a riding hall next to the Schirrhof for the Guard Hussars Regiment, the imperial army used the building up until 1919, followed by the Reichswehr, Wehrmacht, NVA and Soviet units.

Today, the Schinkelhalle is directly managed by SBG Veranstaltungsservice GmbH – the Schiffbauergasse event service provider. National and international meetings and conferences, sophisticated workshops, trade fairs, markets and product presentations by regional, national and international companies are held here on a regular basis. The Schinkelhalle is one of the most important MICE locations in Potsdam.

By incorporating other venues in this district of international culture, the events take on a quality that clearly sets them apart from the monotonous functionality of pure event centres. Culture-related and innovative businesses provide the framework and background to such events, and can also be directly incorporated if desired.

By linking business and cultural usage, the aim is to professionally market potential event spaces while at the same time establishing a connection between external cultural or culture-related projects and the existing infrastructure. As a fully comprehensive on-site service, events of various types are planned and supervised in the international art and culture district of Schiffbauergasse. In addition to events in the MICE sector, the field of activity here also includes cultural events and large-scale cross-venue events.

The hall can be viewed from the outside.
