The riding club Potsdamer Reitverein e.V. was founded in 1990 and was originally located in Babelsberg Park. In October 1991 the club moved to Fahrland and in 1996 it found its new domicile in Potsdam (Waldstadt) in Drewitzer Strasse 38, where it is still located today. Since its foundation, the club has been involved in grass-roots sports riding and vaulting training, primarily geared towards children and young people. Our club currently has about 150 members.
About 11 of our well-trained teenagers and young adults act as trainers for other members in their free time under the supervision and guidance of the five licensed trainers (C+B). All of them work on a voluntarily basis! They hold the “Deutsches Reitabzeichen” qualification and are also qualified as “Berittführer” (riding trainers) and “Longenführer” (lunger trainers).
Members not only learn how to ride and/or vault, they are also taught practical handling of the horse including the various activities this involves in terms of grooming and care. For this purpose, all of them do “stable duty” together in small groups at the weekends from the age of 14.
