Taking a boat trip on the idyllic waters around Potsdam is a popular leisure activity. Sailing and motor boats can be hired at the sailing school in Potsdam every year from April to the end of October. Five sailing dinghies for four people and four optimists are available for rent, as well as two motor boats with 20 horsepower. A sailing licence is required for the dinghies and the Optimists, while a sports boat licence is required for the 20-horsepower motor boats. Life jackets are provided.

One excellent option is a trip across the lake Templiner See in a sailing boat. In the motor boat you can tour the idyllic Havel waters around Potsdam to Berlin.

The sailing school offers courses for children and adults who would like to learn to sail or else acquire a sports boat driving licence (inland waters or maritime) or VHF radiotelephone operator licence. The school’s own club offers free trial sailing. Sailing camps for children are also available during the summer holidays.
