Next to the Neues Palais at Sanssouci Park the hedge theater, “hidden” for more the 150 years was revitalized. Frederick the Great had the New Palace built between 1763 and 1769 after the Seven Years´ War. The surrounding garden areas were completely redesigned. A hedge theater was created for the amusements of the monarch and his guests. Royal gardener Heinrich Christian Eckstein was charged with the design. It might be understood as a symmetrical pendent to the southern garden parlour with iron pergolas and lots of roses.
