The Roland statues of Perleberg and Stendal stand silently – yet they tell stories of freedom, justice and civic pride. This cycling tour connects the two towns, building a bridge between scenic landscapes and fascinating history.

The journey begins in the Roland town of Perleberg. On the Großer Markt, the Roland statue has watched over the beautifully preserved historic centre since 1546, with its charming lanes, St James’ Church and small shops. From here, the route leads out into the peaceful Elbe lowlands.

Along the way, the tour passes through Wittenberge, with its fascinating blend of industrial heritage and the romantic atmosphere of the River Elbe, before continuing through tranquil Seehausen and down-to-earth Osterburg – places rich in history, each with a character of its own.

The destination is the Hanseatic town of Stendal, characterised by impressive Brick Gothic architecture, spacious squares and the striking Uenglinger Gate. In front of the town hall stands the 7.80-metre-high Roland statue – a fitting stone landmark at the end of the tour and a symbol of how history comes alive along the way.
