The sixth stage of Tour Brandenburg extends 73 kilometres from Wittstock (Dosse) to Fürstenberg (Havel). The tour crosses the Rheinsberg lake district and offers plenty of opportunities for a refreshing dip into the lake. You reach Rheinsberg about half-way via Flecken Zechlin. Rheinsberg has a pretty town centre as well as a famous castle and a large park.

Start: Wittstock (Dosse) / Finish: Fürstenberg (River Havel)

How to get there: From Berlin central station, take the RE4 (Rathenow) to Spandau. From here, continue on the RE6 (Wittenberge) to Wittstock (Dosse) (about 2 hours).

Return journey: From Fürstenberg (Havel), take the RE5 (Elsterwerda) to Berlin central station (about 1 hour).

Route: Wittstock (Dosse), Berlinchen, Sewekow, Zempow, Flecken Zechlin, Dorf Zechlin, Rheinsberg, Menz, Fürstenberg (Havel)

  • Wittstock (Dosse): St. Marien town church, old bishop’s castle
  • Flecken Zechlin: Parish church
  • Dorf Zechlin: Mill museum
  • Rheinsberg: Kurt Tucholsky, St.-Laurentius church, ceramics museum, small railway museum
  • Menz: Naturparkhaus Stechlin - visitor centre in the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park
  • Fürstenberg (Havel): Town church, bathing area in Havelpark
