Cyclists and pedestrians can both use even narrow tracks and trails perfectly harmoniously and considerately. The Pilgrimage Tour between Pritzwalk and Heiligengrabe in the Prignitz region provides a wonderful example of this mutual respect. Away from the large Hainholz forest park on the edge of Pritzwalk, cyclists in the region often meet people who are very enthusiastic about hiking and are moving at a brisk pace. They are pilgrims on their way from Berlin to the Wunderblutkirche Church in Bad Wilsnack. These visitors are quite conspicuous in the old pilgrimage towns of Alt Krüssow and Heiligengrabe, and they are often preparing for the classic Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela in north-west Spain. The relaxed atmosphere amongst both the pilgrims and cyclists, who also enjoy stopping off at the beautiful holy places, contributes to the very relaxed relationship – unlike the usual conflicts that can arise between the two groups.
