Head off in your canoe in the idyllic castle park of the agricultural town of Lenzen and paddle along the tranquil River Löcknitz, the main tributary of the River Elbe in the northern part of the Elbe-Brandenburg River Landscape Biosphere Reserve. Marsh and alluvial forests, extensive reed beds, riverbank washed away, sand banks and eroded and deposited banks provide optimum habitats for many protected plant and animal species, such as beavers, otters, bats and rare birds, as well as numerous insects and dragonflies. It is really worthwhile looking and listening out for kingfishers. It is possible to canoe along the River Löcknitz from Lenzen Castle for about 10 kilometres to the state border with Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. There is a place to stop for a bite to eat or drink around halfway. Please only land at designated places to avoid disturbing the sensitive animal and plant habitat. We would be happy to inform you about all important details before your tour.
